What is Karesington?
Because we CARE for KENSINGTON
A cause-based project surrounding the issue of overdose deaths in Kensington, Philadelphia. Karesington is an advertising campaign for Safehouse Philly — a nonprofit organization dedicated to decreasing the high number of overdose deaths in Philadelphia.
Visual Identity
Logo
The presence of three stripes in a logo or symbol is often associated with the United States of America and can also serve as a visual cue to break up the heavy block of a letter's stem. This can create a more interesting pairing of condensed type, which can resemble the thinness and thickness of the three stripes.

Grungy Texture
It captures the flawed and imperfect essence of humanity and the city, providing a raw and genuine record of the city's history.
Color
In a less graphic way, blue and orange represent veins, while the combination of the two is brown, which stands for compassion and unity.

Pattern
Depict the mapping city and the connection between humanity and community. Representing the importance of caring for Philadelphia because it is people’s home.

Typeface
Use typefaces that reflect the geometric system. For instance, Museo Sans can be used as a header to recall the patterns and mapping of the city. Its serifs and terminals represent the continuity and importance of connection.
Illustrations
Rough texture beneath a clean geometric shape is how humans conceal their struggles with ugliness, imperfections, and disease. While Philadelphia projects a perfect image, its neighborhood of Kensington is suffering without hope.
Mobile Safety Injection Site
The following design campaign aims to reach out to people suffering from diseases in Kensington and other cities in Philadelphia. The campaign intends to spread awareness among people that healing is possible and that Karesington offers free medical services.
Call for Actions
We aimed to reach the people of Kensington and the gentrified areas of Philadelphia to emphasize that everyone deserves to be healthy and cared for. Our hope is that this message will motivate donations and volunteers to help the entire city.
